“During the upfronts for the two top Spanish-language media companies in the U.S., Univision and Telemundo, there was a definite air of safeguarding, as evidenced by uniformed officers at every turn and high-security check-ins. But onstage, top executives relieved stress for the hour-plus-long presentations during playful song-and-dance breaks, which had the hundreds-fold invited guests wondering who copied whom, or if it was indeed coincidental.

Telemundo was first up to present its new slate of programming on May 16 at Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Amid the usual telenovela mix of love lost, love rebuked and love attained, Telemundo will try to capture Zorro for the first time on the small screen with the originally produced novela Zorro: la Espada y la Rosa. Another noteworthy return from the past is veteran telenovela heartthrob José Luis Rodríguez, aka. El Puma, who joins the cast of Dáme Chocolate (Give Me Chocolate).”
