“When he started practicing law in 1964, Frank P. Hernández was the only Hispanic lawyer doing civil rights litigation in Dallas.

He got busy in a hurry.

At age 26 in 1966, he helped integrate the grand jury in Dallas County.

In the early 1970s, he pushed Sesame Street to remember its Spanish-speaking audience and develop Spanish-surnamed characters. He also announced his candidacy for a seat on the Dallas City Council – the first Latino to do so.”
