“Anyone who says salsa is dead (and reggaeton is dancing on its grave) forgot to tell N’Klabe. A hot young band out of Puerto Rico headed by three ardent, baby-faced singers, N’Klabe is out to prove there’s life in salsa yet. All it needs is some young blood like theirs.
”I think most young people love salsa,” says Ricky Porrata, 23, who was preparing for a career in opera when he became N’Klabe’s third singer. “The thing is, there was no one who really stepped up to the plate for the music. The youngest ones are like Marc Anthony. So the new generation is, like, it’s music for grandmas, for Sundays. It really needed that injection of youth that we give it.””
