“Protesters recently crowded the Capitol steps to demand sensible immigration reform, part of a nationwide boycott campaign billed as a “Day Without Immigrants.”
As hundreds of thousands marched throughout the country, several thousand mostly Latino activists from Dane County marched to Wisconsin’s Capitol. And as countless businesses across America were paralyzed by the boycott, over a dozen Madison employers locked their doors, many in solidarity with their workers, alerting customers with signs reading: “You support my business, I support your cause; We will close on May 1. We will march in support of the legalization of immigrants and their rights.””
