Knowledge is Power!
“It is an issue that has received little attention in the immigration debate - what happens to illegal immigrants whose children are born in the United States and are automatically citizens?
The Mendez family in Grand Rapids is one such family. The couple and their baby daughter came to the U.S. illegally from Guatemala 15 years ago. In that time, they had four daughters, and because the girls were born in the U.S., they are automatically citizens of this country.
The children have become fully integrated into the community. The girls speak English, primarily. They go to school here. Their father has been able to provide for the family with a job that he has held with a local company for ten years.”
