“Officials at Liberation Programs Inc. have been seeing greater demand for services among the city’s growing Latino population. Thanks to a Community Development Block Grant, the organization hopes to hire another part-time worker next year and help 60 people with substance abuse issues, in addition to the 300 they typically see each year.
“We’re so grateful it’s been funded because we’ve seen this increase in volume for a while, and it’s very frustrating when you can’t respond to the community need,” said Tina Klem, the organization’s vice president of Stamford services. “This really allows us to meet that need and expand those services.”"
