She wasn’t a U.S. citizen, but that’s not why.
She didn’t know English, but that’s not why.
The Mexican native was 23, and people told her she was too old. That’s why.
Today, nearly two decades later, De Vault will graduate from Estrella Mountain Community College in Avondale with a 4.0 grade-point average.”
