Knowledge is Power!
“The belief that immigration is primarily responsible for a surge in the number of Hispanics nationwide is a myth dispelled by a new census report, a local professor contended Wednesday.
Yet an advocate for tighter immigration controls countered that the explanation is not that simple.
Hispanics accounted for nearly half of the nation’s population growth last year, according to the new census report, which notes that most of it was due to births rather than immigration. The increase of 1.3 million Latinos included 500,000 immigrants and a natural hike (births minus deaths) of 800,000 people.”
