Highland Hospital, Hispanic workers settle lawsuit in New York

“U.S. District Court Judge Charles Siragusa has thrown out a policy at Highland Hospital that prevented Hispanic employees from speaking Spanish while on the job. The ruling is part of a lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Highland Hospital housekeeper Jannette Nunez tells NEWS 10NBC the most important thing that has come out of this settlement is the fact that she can now speak Spanish among her colleagues. “Sometimes I feel scared and intimidated but I do feel good we are on the same page and have a better understanding. I feel good about that.” “
