Knowledge is Power!
“Born in Kingsfield, Texas, Hernandez was the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters - five girls and five boys.
Her parents, Emilio and Santos Treviño, had migrated to Texas from Nuevo Leon, Mexico, in 1907, working as cotton pickers. Eventually Emilio was able to become a crew leader.
On their trips to work in Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan, the family sometimes slept in the back of Emilio’s truck.”
