“Tens of thousands of families of mixed nationality may be affected by U.S. immigration reforms, which could separate parents from their U.S.-born children.

Nearly two-thirds — an estimated 3 million — of all children of illegal immigrants are citizens, the nonpartisan Pew Hispanic Center reports.

Families of mixed status have long lived with the threat of being divided, prompting undocumented parents to make strategic decisions about where to live, work and travel. In recent months, as Congress has wrestled with immigration issues, the families’ anxiety level has risen, The Los Angeles Times reported.”
