“American Consumer Credit Counseling, a leading provider of consumer education and counseling services, announced a nationwide initiative to promote financial literacy to Hispanic communities. As part of ACCC’s nationwide initiative, Hispanic consumers can contact the agency directly to speak with a certified bilingual counselor about their personal financial troubles. Hispanic consumers who are looking for help in areas such as household budgeting, information on buying a home, or understanding credit, can feel confident knowing that ACCC can help assist them with the financial situation. In addition to bilingual counseling, Spanish speaking consumers can also access ACCC’s Spanish website at www.creditoayuda.com for information on financial issues, or to read more about ACCC’s programs and services. Complimenting our existing services, ACCC is also proud to announce a broad variety of comprehensive educational materials and workshops now available to the Hispanic community. Consumers now are able to attend Spanish speaking workshops and have financial education material available to them in their native language, all designed to help consumers set goals, organize their financial lives and plan for a healthy financial future.

Reported by a DEMOS study in 2001, 75% of Hispanic families in the U.S. who hold credit card accounts, reported being in debt. “We are excited about becoming a leader in the Hispanic community by providing the resources consumers need to make future financial decisions,” said ACCC President Steve Trumble. “Now in our 15th year, ACCC is proud to be expanding and building strong relationships with partners and organizations in the Hispanic community.” “
