“Kane County State’s Attorney John Barsanti is hoping to get more Hispanic-owned businesses involved in a county program that has been successful in collecting on bad checks.

The bad check restitution program has collected more than $2.5 million for Kane County businesses, but Barsanti has concerns that it is not being used by Hispanic-owned companies.

“A lot of Latino merchants had never heard of this, and we’re trying to remedy that,” Barsanti said. “Because they have the exact same problems as non-Latino businesses ”” people write checks that bounce.”"
