Local construction companies pinched by Latino walkout in Alabama

“While some Birmingham area construction firms reported little to no effect from Monday’s protest by millions of Latinos, many area projects were hurt - some severely - because of worker shortages, a spokesman for a state trade group said.

Bill Caton, director of membership for Alabama Associated General Contractors, said several of the city’s general contractors, including Brice Building Co., “experienced some discomfort” as a result of Latino workers staying home Monday.”
