Waco Hispanics join immigration day protest in Texas

“A couple hundred people showed up at a South Waco rally to cap Monday’s so-called “Day Without Immigrants” in Waco, but initial reports this afternoon indicate far more took the day off from work across Central Texas.

Local businesses reported that some employees ”” particularly Hispanics ”” arranged to take the day off to show solidarity with a nationwide movement backing more lenient immigration laws. Congress is debating whether to toughen existing immigration laws or allow more illegal immigrants easier paths to becoming U.S. citizens.”
