Shakira, Alejandro Sanz and Juanes hit high notes for Billboard Latin Awards

“International pop music stars Shakira, Alejandro Sanz and Juanes were the top winners Thursday at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. Shakira led the night with five trophies, including wins for Latin pop album, female, as well as the Spirit of Hope Award for her charitable work.

The Colombian singer`s duet with Sanz - the Epic/Sony BMG Norte release ‘La Tortura’ - gave each star several wins, including nods for hot Latin song of the year, hot Latin vocal duet and Latin ringtone of the year, a new category.

Sanz, with four wins, was just ahead of Colombian heartthrob Juanes, who won three statues, including songwriter of the year. His Surco/Universal Latino release ‘La Camisa Negra’ was named Latin pop airplay song of the year, male; Laura Pausini`s ‘Viveme’ (Warner Latina) was the winner for Latin pop airplay song, female.”
