“Not being able to speak English is just one of the challenges facing Mississippi’s Latino immigrants - many of whom do not speak Spanish, either.

Most Latinos living in Mississippi are from the poorer, rural states of southern Mexico and other impoverished Central American countries, said Rafael Sanchez-Alonso, associate professor of foreign language at the University of Southern Mississippi.”
