Protestants join immigration debate

Tagged: ,

“Latino Protestants are uniting to join the immigration debate, mobilizing nationwide to push the political process toward what leaders call a “humane solution.”

Pastors are speaking about immigration issues in their churches. Believers are joining public protests and contacting legislators. And leaders are calling on non-Latino Protestants to bolster their position.

“This is an unprecedented moment in the history of the Hispanic evangelical church,” said the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, a sister organization of the National Association of Evangelicals. “There has never been a mass mobilization to the degree we’re seeing here.”"
