City officials try to allay fears of mass deportations in Austin, Texas

“Reports of mass immigration arrests in the Austin area have left the city’s Hispanic community in a panic.

Although local officials and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency deny that such raids are taking place, Hispanic businesses have noticed fewer customers and Austin schools sent out notices reassuring parents and faculty of their rights in case of an immigration sweep.”
