Local Latinos Plan Alternate Version Of Protest in San Diego, California

“A local group is planning it’s own version of a national protest, called the “Great American Boycott.”

The national event — planned for May 1 — calls on Latinos to stay home from work for the day in an effort to protest congressional efforts to clamp down on illegal immigrants. Latinos are also being asked not to make any purchases.

The San Diego Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform said Thursday it neither supports nor condemns the boycott and will sponsor it’s own event on May 1 called “Day of Action.””
