Lawmakers agree on student diabetes testing in California

“As diabetes becomes increasingly common among children, California lawmakers agreed Wednesday with Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia that testing the state’s seventh-graders for the disease is a good idea.

The Assembly Education Committee approved Assembly Bill 2226 by Garcia, R-Cathedral City, which calls for students to be screened for Type 2 diabetes within 180 days of entering seventh grade.”
