Like Quiñonez, many other Latino college students devoted last Saturday to learning about a range of topics that included Latino voting statistics, union organizing and graduate-school preparation.

Organized by students and ASU’s Multicultural Student Services, the first El Concilio Collegiate Conference included more than a dozen educational workshops. It also featured former state legislator Alfredo Gutierrez and civil rights leader Huerta, the co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union.

El Concilio is an umbrella organization for ASU Latino student groups.”
