“The timbales, bongos and, of course, the cow bell– these are just some of the sounds behind Latin rhythms and Caly Rivera is one man behind the music.
“We make mostly hand made instruments, like any kind of conga, bongo, bells, timbales,” says Rivera.

In a small shop on Ogden Avenue in the Bronx, Caly Rivera and his staff at JCR Percussions continuously fine tune their craft: the art of instrument making.

All are made by hand. Here they carve, cut and weld together all the small pieces that make a big sound. “
