Call for Spanish at the pulpit in Seattle, Washington

“With pews at three dozen Catholic churches overflowing with thousands of Hispanic immigrants attending services in Spanish, local church leaders are taking major steps to recruit and train badly needed Spanish-speaking priests.

The Seattle area could use 20 new Spanish-speaking priests immediately, said the Rev. Phillip Bloom, who gives English- and Spanish-language sermons at Holy Family Church in White Center. Ideally, Bloom said, the church would recruit several hundred.”
