“In a town strapped for nurses and other health care professionals, Porterville students are being encouraged to apply for scholarships aimed at developing more.

UnitedHealthcare Latino Health Scholars program is offering 75 $2,000 scholarships and two $25,000 Freedom Awards, funded by the PacifiCare Foundation, as a means to encourage Hispanic and Latino students to pursue career opportunities in health care. The scholarships are available to Spanish-speaking, bicultural high-school students who want to enter the health care industry.”
