“Collections committee initially advised against the Sullivan donation
The board of the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque agreed last week to accept a major gift of 51 works by Taos artist Patrociño Barela and 27 by Edward Gonzales of Corrales.
The Cultural Center’s collections committee recommended the unrestricted acquisition, but asked the board to consider some serious concerns about the cost of producing a catalog and other promises made to the donors regarding the center’s financial responsibilities to the collection. “
