“When Hispanics started moving to northern Oklahoma’s high plains five years ago, Enid Public Schools officials had to take action fast, district representatives said.

“The administration really has made this one of the top priorities, to make sure we are meeting needs of our Spanish speaking students,” said Amber Graham Fitzgerald, Enid Public Schools school and community relations director.

The Hispanic population in Enid Public Schools leaped from 5 percent of the student population in 2000 to 11 percent n 2004. Currently, 12 percent of its 6,300 students are Hispanic.”
