“A top priority and one of the greatest challenges for Springdale schools is to raise academic achievement of teenage Hispanic students, the district’s superintendent said Thursday.

Superintendent Jim Rollins said at a leadership seminar at Har-Ber High School that many Hispanics enter the Springdale School District as teenagers with limited English skills and far behind their peers academically.

The district’s immediate goal is to teach those students English, a daunting task for many older English-language learners.”
