“The largest protest in Dallas history cost the city about $415,000, officials said. Fort Worth’s march, which drew far fewer protesters ”” was not as costly.

About 500,000 people in Dallas and 15,000 in Fort Worth participated in the Mega March on Sunday to protest an immigration bill that protesters said is too harsh on illegal immigrants and the people who help them.

Thinking there would be about 100,000 protesters, Dallas police staffed its event with 550 officers and 200 sheriff’s deputies ”” twice the number at a Texas-OU football game. They spent about $400,000 on voluntary overtime assignments and other expenditures, Sr. Cpl. Max Geron said. Only one person was arrested for public intoxication, which police say was not related to the protest.”
