Blogging “A Day Without Latinos” in Madison, Wisconsin

Tagged: ,

“Monday’s “A Day Without Latinos” rally in Madison was the largest gathering of its type in the city in well over a decade, excepting presidential campaign rallies. Nearly an entire quadrant of Capitol Square was filled with people demanding what organizers describe as “fair, just and humane immigration reform.” Following the arrival of several feeder marches from the UW and West High School at the Brittingham Park gathering point, the group marched up West Washington Avenue to rally on the State Street steps of the Capitol, where various religious leaders, elected officials, labor leaders, and activists spoke to the crowd. Photos of the march and rally are available here, here, and here, with brief comments about the event from several rally speakers available here and further discussion on TDPF.”
