TRPI’s 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner Relocates to Accommodate High Demand

(LOS ANGELES, CA) April 5, 2006 – The Tomás Rivera Policy Institute (TRPI) announces that, due to an overwhelming response to its 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner, the event will be relocated to The Center at Cathedral Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles. The dinner will be held on Thursday, May 18th 2006.

The dinner was completely sold out before the invitations were printed. Originally, the dinner was scheduled at the Town & Gown on the University of Southern California campus. More than 450 seats have been sold and with only 15 tables remaining, TRPI anticipates completely selling out again once the invitations are mailed this week.

Program advertisement sales are available for those who are unable to attend but would like to show their support of TRPI and its honorees. Advertisements begin at $1,500 and the deadline to reserve an ad is April 17th, 2006.

TRPI, known for its work to improve public policies affecting Latinos and underserved communities through objective research, will be honoring Bank of America, the Lozano Family, founders of La Opinión, Claremont Graduate University President Emeritus John D. Maguire, former Congressman Edward Roybal (in memoriam) and Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard. The honorees were selected for their work to benefit the Latino community through philanthropy, media, academia, and policymaking.

The honorary dinner committee includes Antonio Villaraigosa (Mayor, City of Los Angeles ), Fabian NÚñez (Speaker, CA State Assembly), Eva Longoria (Star, ABC’s Desperate Housewives), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (United States Congresswoman, R-FL), Henry Cisneros (Chairman and CEO, American CityView), and Oscar de la Hoya (Boxer and President, Golden Boy Productions).
