“Between 100 and 150 mostly Hispanic and African immigrants marched to U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter’s office in Pittsburgh on Monday, joining people across Pennsylvania and around the country in support of immigrant rights as Congress considers immigration reform.
In a spirited demonstration at JFK Plaza in Philadelphia, an estimated 7,000 people gathered in a downtown park, waved American, Mexican and Puerto Rican flags and chanted “Si se puede” - Spanish for “Yes, we can.” One man, who did not speak English, wore a T-shirt with the words “I am not a criminal” written across the front.”
