“More than 2,000 people gathered Monday in Homestead, where tomatoes, squash and snap peas are picked by a legion of undocumented immigrants, to call on Congress to legalize those workers.

They gathered on Harris Field at sunset — walking there fresh from their day of work in the fields: Mexicans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Guatemalans.

Diana Posada, of Guatemala, reminded the crowd of their power in cities like Homestead.”
