“Lyle Sardie, owner of Mariposa Restaurant on Pine Avenue in Long Beach, Calif. confronted city officials in an open council meeting, April 4, 2006, regarding the bias treatment that he has received over the past five years by a small group of business owners that conspired to bankrupt his business.

Sardie pointed out the conflicts of interest and the unequal treatment that seems to be a way of doing business for city officials in Long Beach. Other nightclub owners are allowed to operate without any restrictions at all, while Sardie’s business has been targeted by one police sergeant that has told Sardie, on more than one occasion, that he is going to bankrupt his business.”
