Debate over illegals roils onion country in Georgia
Tagged: children, mobile, police“Luis’ wife was stopped twice last month at police roadblocks he thinks were designed to intimidate immigrants. His 11-year-old daughter has had to deal with rumors at school that immigration agents were going to raid classrooms. And there has been a separate prom for Hispanics at Toombs County High School, just across U.S. 1 from the mobile home where Luis lives with his wife and four children.
So instead of following his hardworking instincts Monday, Luis plans to stay home in observance of the “National Day of Action” called by Latino organizations concerned about a congressional crackdown on illegal immigration.”
