Knowledge is Power!

“To date, law enforcement and medical services organizations have been forced to use creative measures to communicate with Hispanic immigrants.

The Forrest County Emergency Management District has contracted with the Language Line to provide all emergency services personnel with readily available access to an interpreter. Other organizations rely upon volunteer translators available through the University of Southern Mississippi.

Law officers in most jurisdictions have begun receiving basic courses in survival Spanish.

We applaud these and other efforts to address the problem”
