Ithaca, NY–As Congress considers legislation to deal with the issue of illegal immigration, an expert will discuss the topic in a talk at Ithaca College. Félix Masud-Piloto, associate professor of history and director of the Center for Latino Research at De Paul University, will visit Ithaca College on Thursday, April 20, to speak on “Historical and Contemporary Causes of the Latin American Migration to the United States.” Free and open to the public, the talk will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Textor 101.

Masud-Piloto was born and raised in Havana and immigrated to the United States in 1961. In 1985 he received his doctorate in history from Florida State University. He frequently returns to his homeland for research and has participated in three major meetings between the Cuban government and the Cuban exile community to discuss Cuban immigration to the United States.”
