“GRAND RAPIDS — It’s a place with a large-city feel that still has small-town charm.

Grand Rapids leaders are hoping that charm, the city’s diversity and its cultural attractions will be enough to wow representatives of the League of United Latin American Citizens, slated to come to town April 14 to check out the city.

Grand Rapids is competing against Los Angeles, El Paso and Corpus Christi, in Texas, Seattle and Spokane, in Washington, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, to host the 2009 general convention of the Hispanic organization.”
