Tagged: Mexico“The quintessential voice of Mexican ranchera music has died. When one speaks of ranchera music, Rocío DÚrcal ruled. Her soaring and heart-breaking renditions of songs by Mexico’s prolific Juan Gabriel have sold more than 40 million records worldwide.
And yet she was more than just a muse or her master’s voice.
Besides Juan Gabriel, DÚrcal collaborated on albums with composers Marco Antonio Solís “El Buki” and Joan Sebastián in 1993. And despite their individual styles, DÚrcal had the ability to make their songs her own.”
