“U.S. immigration reform may spark political activism among Latino youth in California who see plans to tighten borders as an attack on their identity.
Tens of thousands of California Latino high schoolers have cut classes, marched through cities and blocked roads to protest against the reforms.
The immigration debate in a divided U.S. Congress and across Latino communities could awaken political activism of Hispanic youth in a region that can tilt the California governor’s election this year and the outcome of the 2008 presidential race.”
