“Public Health Service surgeon general Richard Carmona, MD, MPH, announced in late February that an updated version of a free, computerized tool in Spanish is now available on the Internet at https://familyhistory.hhs.gov/spanish.

According to a release from the Department of Health and Human Services, a detailed family history can predict disorders that may run in families, such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. The family history can help identify those at increased risk for such diseases and enable the development of more personalized health care approaches to prevent illness or detect it early, when it is most treatable”
