“Thousands of people marched through downtown to call for immigrant rights Monday as the Senate hammered out a bill that could help undocumented immigrants gain legal status in the United States.

Chanting in English and Spanish and waving American and Mexican flags, the marchers called on Congress to pass bills that will help pave the way for millions of illegal immigrants to gain legal status and denounced bills that would make criminals of undocumented immigrants and those who aid them.”
