“A growing population, educational strides and entrepreneurial spirit have spurred the number of Hispanic-owned businesses to increase three times faster than the national average, driven by women and people of Mexican origin.
That’s the take of Rio Grande Valley business leaders and owners on U.S. Census Bureau data released Tuesday. The data shows that firms in which Hispanics own more than half of the stock or equity grew about 31 percent between 1997 and 2002.”
