“With the Hispanic population growing, it should be no surprise that political candidates are catering to the needs of Hispanic voters more than ever before. In 2000, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated there were close to 74,000 immigrants in Arkansas. The state does not track the number of registered voters who are Hispanic, but candidates know that population has a growing voice.

Former U.S. Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros says, “In the 1990’s the fastest growing hispanic population in any state in America was in Arkansas. It grew by 400 percent.”"
