“Santa Paula was singled out Tuesday when Census Bureau officials cited it as having the nation’s fifth fastest-growing number of Hispanic-owned businesses from 1997 to 2002.

The small town had a 548 percent growth spurt of Hispanic-owned businesses over the five-year period, jumping from 125 to 810, the U.S. Census Bureau reported. And those businesses generated $69 million in sales in 2002.”
