“Dade’s Hispanic-owned businesses are the Latin economic powerhouses of the country, with those companies generating the highest number of sales at the county level than any other in the nation, according to U.S. Census Bureau data on Hispanic businesses released on Tuesday.

Miami-Dade County Hispanic businesses brought in more than $26 billion of sales receipts in 2002, the government data showed. The number of Hispanic-owned business in the county increased 36 percent between 1997 and 2002 to more than 163,000 companies.”
