“Hispanic business people in Waco were “shunned” by local banks and the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce 31 years ago, says longtime businessman Lorenzo Garcia, owner of Lorenzo’s Body Shop.

Garcia said in some cases Hispanics gave their businesses Anglo names like “Smith or Franklin” because they thought the public would be more likely to patronize them.”
