Knowledge is Power!
“A Kansas City gallery inaugurated a high-profile show this month featuring the work of renowned Mexican photographer Manuel Alvarez Bravo.
The collection of 50 black-and-white photographs includes a portrait of Frida Kahlo, as well as surrealist shots of workers and Mayan peasants Alvarez Bravo took as he traveled Mexico in the 1930s.
The collection came to Kansas City’s Belger Arts Center thanks to a fortuitous collaboration between the Mexican Consulate; Alvarez Bravo’s widow, Colette Alvarez Urbajtel; and Kathleen Collins, president of the Kansas City Art Institute.”
