“Truancy and high school dropout rates among Hispanic students in South Carolina has reached alarming levels, the South Carolina Hispanic Leadership Council said Wednesday.

The group has launched a new program to pair Hispanic students with mentors who have successfully overcome the cultural diversity and language difficulties that often cause the students to become truant or drop out of school, said Ivan Segura, director of the group’s new REACH project.”
