A freak snowstorm left three Mexican migrants dead of hypothermia on their trek across the border into the United States, a Mexican consular official said Monday. (Strange, I didn’t find this in any US media sources but from a site in Vietnam that was the only one to pick it up from Rueters)

“The bodies of the three men, all in their early 20s, were found on the weekend in the desert over the border from the town of La Rumorosa, near Tijuana, after a cold spell sent temperatures plunging, a spokesman for the Mexican Consulate in San Diego said.

Weather in the vast and exposed desert around the border area is extreme in summer and winter, but the three men were the first people in two years to die of hypothermia, the consulate spokesman said.”
